Why familytree.tw Requests Google Drive Access
familytree.tw lets a family tree editor add selected Google Drive folders to the family common area. This reduces server storage usage and lets families keep shared photos and documents in Google Drive.
The editor explicitly chooses a Google Drive folder for common photos or common documents. The app then lists files in that selected folder and displays links and previews in familytree.tw.
Scope Requested
The app requests https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly.
Read-only Drive access is required because the app needs to list files in the selected folder and read file metadata such as file ID, file name, MIME type, preview link, and thumbnail link.
What the App Does Not Do
The app does not modify, delete, move, or upload files in Google Drive.
The app does not scan or index the user's entire Google Drive.
The app does not sell or transfer Google Drive data for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Data Stored
For imported Drive files, familytree.tw stores file references such as file ID, file name, MIME type, web view link, thumbnail URL, and the selected folder ID for future synchronization.
The app does not store private copies of the Drive files themselves.
User Flow
An editor signs in, opens the common area, clicks Add Google Drive featured images or Add Google Drive common documents, pastes a Google Drive folder URL or folder ID, and confirms.
familytree.tw reads files from that selected folder and shows them separately as Google Drive photos or Google Drive documents.
When the editor opens the common area later, familytree.tw synchronizes the saved folder references so new or removed Drive files are reflected.
